If you invite participation, people will participate. And that means you have to be prepared to work with what they bring.
This seems obvious. But I’ve learned over the years that many leaders and consultants aren’t ready for what this actually requires. The gap between inviting participation and being equipped to work with what emerges is where organizations lose some of their best opportunities.
